Your Vote Is Your Voice — Get Ready for 2026

May 02, 2026

2026 Is a Big Election Year. Are You Registered?

Every two years, Fil-Am CAG volunteers fan out across Hampton Roads with one simple goal: make sure every eligible Filipino American is registered, informed, and ready to vote. This year, the stakes are high. Virginia’s 2026 election cycle includes races for all U.S. House seats and a U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Mark Warner — along with local offices that directly shape our schools, our neighborhoods, and the services our families depend on.

With more than 40,000 Filipino Americans in the Hampton Roads region — the largest concentration of Filipino Americans on the East Coast — our community has real political power. But power only counts when people use it.

Key 2026 Dates for Virginia Voters

Mark your calendars now so deadlines don’t sneak up on you:

  • August 4, 2026 — Virginia Congressional Primary Election
  • July 24, 2026 — Voter registration deadline for the August primary
  • November 3, 2026 — Virginia Congressional General Election
  • October 23, 2026 — Voter registration deadline for the November general election
  • September 18 – October 31, 2026 — Early in-person voting window for the November election

Virginia also allows same-day registration with a provisional ballot — so even if you miss the deadline, you can still vote in person. But don’t wait. Registering early means no surprises at the polling place.

What Fil-Am CAG’s Voter Registration Drive Does

Since 1991, Fil-Am CAG has been working to translate the size of our community into civic influence. Our Voter Registration Drive isn’t just about filling out forms — it’s about making sure Filipino Americans understand what’s on the ballot and why it matters to them personally.

Our volunteers set up registration tables at community events, cultural gatherings, and Filipino American businesses across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. We walk people through the registration process step by step — in English and Tagalog — and connect first-time voters with resources to help them prepare before Election Day. We also attend town hall meetings alongside our neighbors so we understand the local issues at stake.

This work is a direct expression of Fil-Am CAG’s three pillars: Education. Equality. Unity. Voting is how our community exercises all three at once.

Help Us Register More Voters This Year

We need volunteers for upcoming registration drives ahead of the August primary and November general election. If you can spend a few hours at a table helping your neighbors get registered, we want to hear from you. You don’t need any special training — just a willingness to show up and talk to people.

Not ready to volunteer yet? Start by making sure you and your family members are registered. Share this post. Bring a neighbor to the polls. Every action matters.
