Meeting with Va Beach Mayor
Fil-Am CAG officers met with Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf at her office to discuss Fil-Am issues: Fil-Am gang, Teen Pregnancies, Education, Fil-Am Elderly problems, Job Discrimination, Health and Housing issues.
Initiated Political Activism
Initiated and brought the Filipino American community into the higher plateau of political activism through advocacy, town meetings, face to face with local, state and national political leaders, political endorsements in a nonpartisan way (both Republicans and Democrats) building relationships and political bridges. ONGOING PROCESS.
Approval of CUFOT's Request for License.
Fil-Am CAG Chairman appeared before the Virginia Beach city council meeting in support of CUFOT’s request for an extension of their license to build the Philippine Cultural Center. APPROVED.
Take over the Filipino American Friendship Day
Fil-Am CAG was requested by the Philippine American Community of Tidewater (PACT) leadership to take over the Filipino American Friendship Day Celebration Committee before that organization disbanded for the continuance of the Fil-Am Friendship Day Celebration that is being celebrated every year on the 4th of July.

Mission of Mercy
Fil-Am CAG is one of the primary supporters of the Mission of Mercy and majority of its leading officers are ac- tively working and coordinating the mission’s various fund-raising activities to raise money to help those in the Philippines affected by major calamities such as: typhoons, earthquakes, mudslides. etc.

Fil-Am Seniors organization expelled from the Kempsville Recreation Center
Fil-Am Seniors organization expelled from the Kempsville Recreation Center as their monthly meeting place due to several unfortunate incidents the seniors had done during their 1993 Christmas Party there. Mar Calimlim, cur- rent President requested Fil-Am CAG for help in restoring their possible use of the center as their meeting place. CAG Chairman acted on their behalf and the KRC restored their use on probationary terms with some restrictions.
Filipino survivors of the M/V Bow Mariner
Acted swiftly with NaFFAA Hampton Roads Chapter to support and to assist the Filipino survivors of the M/V Bow Mariner that sank off the coast of Virginia Beach. Coordinated with NaFFAA and the shipping company officials, the Philippine Embassy officials, Coast Guard and with the Filipino American community of Hampton Roads.
Sister City Program
Initiated the “Sister City Program” between Virginia Beach and the City of Naic, Cavite, Philippines. After several years, Naic City declined the invitation and in 2012 Fil-Am CAG submitted Olongapo City as the alternate city for the program.

Update us on any Fil Am Youth Gang activities
Invited the newly appointed Virginia Beach Chief of Police, Jim Cervera and Capt. Dennis Santos, the highest ranking Filipino American in the city’s police force to update us on any Fil Am Youth Gang activities in the city. Their reports are good...NO FIL-AM YOUTH GANG ACTIVITIES RECORDED IN THE CITY THIS YEAR AND IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.
